Sam Smith
Sam Smith
Founding Attorney
Biography
Sam Smith founded Lead Science Legal Services in 1974 with a simple conviction: an injured person deserves the same quality of representation the insurance company buys for itself. Five decades later, that conviction still shapes how every case at the firm is handled, from the first phone call to the final verdict.
Over the course of his career, Sam has represented thousands of injured people and families in cases involving car and truck crashes, wrongful death, defective products, premises hazards, and medical negligence. He is known in the courtroom for meticulous preparation and in the office for something just as important: time. Clients have his attention, his explanation of their options, and his honest assessment of their case.
Today Sam leads a practice that now includes three generations of attorneys. He continues to try cases, consult on complex claims, and mentor the lawyers who carry the firm’s standards forward.
Background
A Trial Lawyer First
Sam began his career in the courtroom and never left it. He prepares every case as if it will be tried, because he has seen how that preparation changes the way insurance companies value a claim. Over five decades, he has tried cases before juries in state and federal courts and has argued before appellate courts on behalf of injured clients.
Building the Firm
When Sam opened Lead Science Legal Services, he made a deliberate choice to keep the firm’s caseload small enough that every client could reach the attorney handling their case. That choice still defines the firm. It is why clients receive regular updates, direct answers, and a team that knows their file.
Mentoring the Next Generation
Sam has trained and mentored many of the attorneys who practice at the firm today. He teaches the same habits he has relied on throughout his career: thorough investigation, careful work with expert witnesses, plain-language counsel, and the willingness to take a case to trial when a fair settlement is not offered.
